Tips for NY teens to get a better nights rest with return to school, early alarms

Teenagers around New York are adjusting to a shock to their system with the return to school and early wake up calls.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that 78% of high school students don't get enough sleep on an average school night.

The American Academy of Sleep Medicine recommends teens get between eight and 10 hours of sleep a night.

They are also recommending schools not begin classes until at least 8:30 a.m., because teens are naturally programmed to be more alert later in the morning.
