4 dead in accident on Sprain Brook Parkway

GREENBURGH, N.Y. (WABC) -- Four people were killed when their car jumped a guardrail early Sunday morning on the Sprain Brook Parkway in Greenburgh.

The accident happened at about 5:45 a.m. Sunday on the parkway north of Jackson Avenue, where the vehicle went off the road, struck a bridge abutment by an overpass and burst into flames.

Among the dead includes the driver, 19-year-old Bruno Vaccarezza from Cos Cob and his passengers 19-year-old Fernanda Gomez, a Chilean national who lived in Port Chester, 18-year-old Juliana Restrepo from Port Chester and 20-year-old Vincent Mendoza from Norwalk.

"Clearly speed is going to be a factor. There was significant damage. The vehicle went off the road, and struck the abutment head on," said Troop K Commander Major Michael Kopy.
