Judgeship Candidate, Former ADA, Killed by Alleged Drunk Driver While Hanging Campaign Signs: Cops

NBC NY

A former Bronx assistant district attorney and candidate for a judgeship in Westchester County was killed by an alleged drunk driver who hit him as he hung campaign signs Tuesday, authorities said.

John Mangialardi, 55, was struck by a Nissan Altima around 10:15 p.m. as he crossed Route 9A at Route 134 in Ossining, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police believe he was posting campaign signs at the intersection when he was hit.

Mangialardi was a candidate for Ossining Town Justice. Police say he served in the National Guard and had worked on DWI cases as a defense attorney.
