Statewide manhunt after 2 are shot; 1 dead in Garden City

GARDEN CITY, New York (WABC) -- Police on Long Island are searching for a gunman after a shooting left 1 dead and 1 injured at a business near the Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City.

The shooting happened in the rear of a lighting company on South Street in Garden City late Wednesday morning. Police believe the suspect was a vendor to the business where the shooting took place.

One person, a worker at the business died on the scene, another victim, the CEO of the company was taken to the hospital and was immediately taken to surgery.

"The company was occupied by about 4 employees at the time," said Nassau County Chief of Department Steven Skrynecki. "He entered one room where the owner CEO and an employee were. He opened fire immediately on those two individuals."
