Voters To Decide Winner In Heated Brooklyn DA Race

NY1News

After months of mud-slinging, the Brooklyn District Attorney's race is concluding much the way it began.

Former federal prosecutor Ken Thompson cast his ballot this morning, and made sure to reference the wrongful conviction scandal marring incumbent Charles Hynes' latest term in office.

Meanwhile, Hynes hammered his opponent for failing to secure promotions, or a supervisory post, during his tenure at the Justice Department.

"What I hope to accomplish is to begin a new era of fairness in Brooklyn, in our criminal justice system. A new era where we no would no longer have innocent men going to prison for murders they didn't commit, and where we would have a DA's office that is based in fairness, because the duty of a prosecutor is to do justice and not just get convictions," Thompson said.
