Was Rep. Grace Meng a knockout game victim?

Eyewitness News
NEW YORK (WABC) -- Congresswoman Grace Meng, a freshman Democrat representing Queens, is back at work after getting hit in the head and robbed in Washington.

Rep. Meng was at a citizenship ceremony on Friday, and afterward she was asked if she thought she was a victim of the so called "knockout game."

"We're not sure," she said. "I don't remember honestly."

Walking home from the Capitol on Tuesday night, Meng was struck in the head from behind and knocked out. Her purse was stolen and some believe she may be the victim of the disturbing and growing trend of assaulting people without any reason

... "depraved indifference" ( or even "attempted murder"; people have been *killed* in these attacks and it's highly likely that some die later due to complications from brain trauma.).

I realize partly it's a media phenomena but media in this case could be *driving* up the frequency. ( Perps get off by posting it to youtube, evidently)

Additionally, the data obsessed PDs might be more than happy to classify these attacks as "games" rather than felonies to keep their crime stats lookin' good.

The so called "knock-out game."

It used to be called "assault w. intent to kill." Sounds a lot less egregious if one calls it a "knock-out game."

Governments engage in euphemism all the time. Why can't criminals?

and let's hope it was caught on one of those "intrusive" street cams.

The supposed "game" is the knockout. People who are assaulted generally aren't robbed. It's just for the macho thrill of violence.

... and cell phones from the unconscious bodies of the "game's" losers.

Even macho lovers of the thrill of violence may have have mixed motives.
