NISKAYUNA A seven-hour standoff between police and a Gloversville man ended after midnight Saturday without incident, Niskayuna Police said.
Matthew Hayner, 30, was arrested after the incident, which began at about 5:45 p.m. Friday at the Balltown Road home of his child's mother. Police said Hayner allegedly violated a court order of protection ordering him to stay away from both the child and the mother.
He was arraigned in Niskayuna Town Court on first-degree criminal contempt, second-degree harassment, and three counts of unlawful imprisonment. He was ordered held without bail.
At some point during the incident, the woman was able to flee the home with her children and call police, who surrounded the home and evacuated neighbors because of statements Hayner made and because they didn't know if he was armed.
