Saul Leiter, Pioneer Of NYC Street Photography, Dies At 89

NY1NEWS
Saul Leiter, one of the first professionals to regularly photograph New York City in color, died on Tuesday. He was 89.

Leiter was well known by other photographers for his unique documentation of the city, but he was largely undiscovered by the public until late in his life.

He captured fleeting moments, people in soft focus and the sharp geometry of the city.

A New York Times obituary recognizes thousands of his images as some of the finest examples of street photography in the world.
