New York City unveils interactive map of major crimes

ORK (WABC) -- New York City residents now have a new way of looking at crime data in their neighborhood, as the city has unveiled an interactive map.

The map was introduced Sunday by the NYPD and the city's Information Technology and Telecommunications Department.

It allows people to search and see basic data on the incidence of seven major crimes, by address, ZIP code or police precinct.

The map shows the seven major felony crimes, as defined by state law. They include murder, rape and robbery and some property crimes, such as burglary
