LIRR preparing for snow, ice

MINEOLA, N.Y. (WABC) -- The Long Island Rail Road is also making plans to keep tracks clear for the commute Tuesday.

It's affectionately known as Darth Vader.

The 53 foot, 80 ton machine is just the latest in the LIRR's snow fighting arsenal.

"It is propelled by a locomotive from behind, two locomotives actually," said Joe Calderone, LIRR spokesman.
