NEW YORK (WABC) -- Two people were critically injured Sunday morning in a fire at a high-rise building on the West Side of Manhattan.
The fire broke out at 11 a.m. at 500 West 43rd Street and went to three alarms. It was declared under control by the FDNY at 12:49 p.m.
Authorities say two civilians with critical injuries were taken to separate New York hospitals. There were also 7 civilians and 4 firefighters who sustained minor injuries.
133 firefighters and 33 pieces of fire apparatus responded to the scene.
One building resident, Mickey Atwal, tweeted that there was smoke in the hallways and he was standing on the balcony with his wife and 2-year old child.
