Queens shooting leaves retired correction officer dead

NEW YORK (WABC) -- A retired New York City correction officer is dead after an overnight shooting in Queens.

The incident happened just before 4:30 a.m. at 227th Street and 108th Avenue in Queens Village.

The 46-year-old man was shot and killed in a dispute with his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend, both of whom are active correction officers.

The former officer was shot once in the chest, allegedly by the new boyfriend after lying in wait for them.
