Arbitrator reduces A-Rod's suspension to 162 games

NEW YORK (WABC) -- New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez will be sidelined for the entire 2014 season, after an arbitrator reduced his drug suspension from 211 to 162 games.

Arbitrator Fredric Horowitz notified Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association of his ruling Saturday.

The suspension includes the 162 regular season games as well as the entire 2014 postseason.

The Yankees slugger, a three-time AL MVP, was suspended for 211 games on Aug. 5 by baseball commissioner Bud Selig under the sport's drug agreement and its labor contract.
