Protesters say Cuomo not doing enough to address poverty
By MATTHEW L. MCKIBBEN
Dangerously cold weather did not turn away activists looking to gain Gov. Andrew Cuomo's attention during the 24th annual People's State of the State address, held on the steps of the state Capitol.
The rally allowed a platform for groups to voice their opinions on the topics they say need to be addressed this session.
Leaders from the Hunger Action Network of New York State, A Better Choice for New York, and New Yorkers for Fiscal Fairness were among the speakers calling on the governor to turn his focus to the growing income inequality gap the groups say the state is suffering from.
The groups released a "report card" for the governor, a list of what they deem to be flaws in Cuomo's ability to adequately address tax fairness, income inequality, education and job creation
