Related: About this forumCouncilman David Greenfield Bill Would Have City Shovel Sidewalks, Charge Owners
BY ERIN DURKIN
Too lazy to shovel your sidewalk? Under a proposed law, the city would shovel it for you - and then stick you with a $250 bill.

Councilman David Greenfield (D-Brooklyn) is introducing legislation that would require the city to shovel sidewalks ignored by negligent property owners and charge them for it.
Right now, you get a fine - youre still not clearing your sidewalk, Greenfield said. The problem is that your walk remains unshoveled.
Property owners who dont shovel within four hours after the snow stops falling are currently subject to fines that start at $100.

And I think it's ridiculous that the city gets away with charging the citizens when they don't shovel their sidewalks, or don't repair their cracked sidewalks. These are states that have highway robbery tolls just to drive on their shitty roads should be responsible for the snow clean up and repairs.
The east coast pays too much for services that should be the cities responsibility. How come when it floods you're not going to get fined for having water on your sidewalk. Snow is water only frozen.

I think oeople shoukd shovel their property. For the most part residential owners do shovel but commercial owners lag behind.

What are they doing with the taxes?
