De Blasio hires a Sandy point person, title TBD

A union operative who worked on Christine Quinn's mayoral campaign is handling Hurricane Sandy recovery work in the de Blasio administration, at least temporarily.

Michael DeLoach, who once worked for 1199SEIU, a close labor ally of Mayor Bill de Blasio, is attending meetings related to the city's halting and at least momentarily leaderless Sandy rebuilding effort.

An administration source confirmed DeLoach's employment, but would not reveal his title or salary and said his exact role is still being determined.

His portfolio has also included assisting the administration in making hires, the source said.
