Supervisors settle on invasive species funding for smaller lakes

DON LEHMAN

It took some testy conversation to get there, but Warren County supervisors on Friday finally figured out how to divvy up money set aside for invasive species control on the county’s smaller lakes.

The county Board of Supervisors Invasive Species Subcommittee endorsed a plan that would split $150,000 between three towns and one lake protection district.

The towns of Horicon, Chester and Lake Luzerne will each get $41,666 this year, while the Glen Lake Protection District will get $25,000 for weed control.

That decision came after Bolton Supervisor Ronald Conover proposed splitting the money evenly between the towns of Horicon, Chester and Lake Luzerne for lakes in their towns, omitting Glen Lake.
