Gov. Cuomo announces $28.6 million in solar development that will include Staten Island projects

NEW YORK -- Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo announced $28.6 million in awards Tuesday under the NY-Sun initiative, designed to focus on his commitment to scale up solar deployment across the state and spark significant growth in solar power and jobs.

The initiative will be bring 29 large-scale photovoltaic (PV) projects to New York -- including four projects to Staten Island -- which will add 33.6 megawatts to the state's solar capacity. In addition, there will be eight innovative projects to reduce costs associated with solar installations.

The four Island projects will include two that will be based at the Supreme Chocolatiers in Bloomfield, and installed by Energy Systems and Installations Inc.

"New York State is continuing to expand its clean-energy economy by partnering with the private sector to support innovative solar projects," said Cuomo in a press release. "The NY-Sun initiative has played an essential role in our efforts to grow the solar industry in New York and create cleaner communities across the state."
