250 Clergy Call For Mayor de Blasio's Pre-K Tax Plan To Be Enacted

KEN LOVETT

Hoping to exploit Gov. Cuomo’s tenuous relationship with the minority community, backers of Mayor de Blasio’s prekindergarten tax plan released a letter from 250 religious leaders.

The letter comes just days before a rally featuring de Blasio, the Rev. Al Sharpton, and various elected officials and community members at the National Action Network’s University Pre-K day.

The letter also comes a day after a new Wall Street Journal/NBC/Marist College poll shows a dip Cuomo’s job approval rating among black and Latinos.

Just 41% of Latino registered voters rated Cuomo’s job performance positively, down 21 points from 62% in November, the poll found. Meanwhile, 42% of black voters gave a thumbs up to the job Cuomo is doing, down from 57% in November.
