Concord site developers unveil plan for $750 million casino resort

Developers who hope to build a $750 million casino resort on the site of the former Condord hotel in Sullivan County say they could start building within a month and create thousands of jobs if granted a license.
Kansas City, Mo.-based EPR Properties and Monticello Casino and Raceway operator Empire Resorts Inc. unveiled details on Thursday of their plan for a 1,110-room resort in Kiamesha Lake. It would be called Adelaar, which is the Dutch word for eagle, and employ 2,200 full- and part-time workers, the developers said.
More than a dozen groups have expressed interest in applying for one of four casino licenses for upstate New York that are being granted this year. Up to two of those licenses could be in the Catskills. The other designated areas are the Albany-Saratoga region and the Souther Tier.
One advantage EPR and Empire Resorts said they have is that they have been working for three years to get permits and approvals in place.
