Arrests are commencing outside the governor’s chambers

Rick Karlin, Capitol bureau

Arrests of budget prostestors outside the governors office have begun, even as Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, in the adjoining chambers were continuing to hash out the budget.

Budget protests and sit-ins have become something of a tradition around this time of year, although today’s crowd is exceptionally big, with Citizens Action, Alliance for Quality Education, supporters of the Dream Act and others all bringing in lots of sign-bearing, banner waving protestors.

Basically, they dislike the idea of Cuomo’s tax cut plans and want to see more money for items like education and college aid.
