Proposal for pilot program for public financing of elections gets cold reaction in Albany

A.compromise proposal to initiate statewide public financing of campaigns with just the attorney general or controller’s races isn’t winning rave reviews.

Although state controller Thomas DiNapoli and Attorney General Eric Schneiderman have previously expressed support for public financing, nether seem ready to embrace the new, pilot program, which has been floated in state budget talks.
