Bill de Blasio Reaffirms Liberal Vision at Clergy Assembly

Ross Barkan

Appearing in front of an influential clergy coalition, Mayor Bill de Blasio delivered a brief recap of the liberal achievements of his young administration yesterday, sidestepping recent setbacks.

“We’re living a tale of two cities. There are too many people suffering,” Mr. de Blasio told the group, repeating his campaign theme at a meeting of the Metro Industrial Areas Foundation, a sprawling coalition of multi-faith congregations in the tri-state area. “We can’t continue policies that don’t address that.”

Getting started is always tough.

But the billionaires aren't just going to HAND-OVER their Charter Schools w/o a fight.

C'mon. You KNEW that.

This guy comes from politically savvy , sophisticated parents. He cut his teeth as a pro-Sandinista, anti-imperialist international activist. He went to Nicaragua. He went to Cuba. He took risks. He paid dues.

He's surprised... and scarier still.... *deterred* because the charter school lobby spent 3 million dollars calling him mean names on tv commercials?

Who cares? He was just elected by a 73%-23% margin over the charter school candidate. He doesn't have to run for office for another 3 and 3/4 years.

If not now..... WHEN?
