NY Students Begin 3-Day Common Core English Assessments

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — Parents across New York are protesting the statewide Common Core tests by having their children opt out of the exams.

Students in grades 3 through 8 started on the tests on Tuesday. They’ll begin with the English language arts assessments and spend a little under 1 1/2
hours a day for three consecutive days, finishing Thursday.

This is the second year that the assessments will be based on the Common Core Learning Standards adopted by most states based on a curriculum with tougher standards and increased testing linked to teacher evaluations.

They start in the 10th grade so kids have 2 more yrs to retest if necessary. The test is a joke, my 6th grader could pass it & he is not my brainiac. Hell right now he's my "free to home" child, the "good" is optional.
