(204,851 posts)I'm guessing you mean Stella. I was just looking in the Albany paper and this was new. Wish he was coming to SPAC (Saratoga Performing Arts Center), since that's much closer to me... I saw numerous concerts there when I was in my teens.

(71,265 posts)How is the day going for you?
Rhiannon12866
(204,851 posts)I'm sleepy because I got up earlier than usual, while it was still light out, LOL. It's supposed to be better weather for the next three days.

(204,851 posts)And some walking on the beach once the wind dies down. That's what we usually do. And I discovered that a new restaurant that's approximately across the highway donates to progressive causes, so that's one place we ought to go.

(71,265 posts)Sounds like you have a plan. It sound like it really is a beach town so I gues in bad weather there is not much to do than the beach.
Rhiannon12866
(204,851 posts)Or like country music. But it's a really nice place, three bedroom, two bath condo, with a fully equipped kitchen and four TVs, last I counted. And the view is spectacular, the balcony looks straight out on the ocean.

(204,851 posts)My SO has the oportunity to spend a week here every year as a perk of his job. And he really does need a vacation...
hrmjustin
(71,265 posts)Not sure what that means.

(204,851 posts)He's actually another DUer who I first met in 2005.
hrmjustin
(71,265 posts)Thats cool that he is a DUer as well. I had no idea.
Rhiannon12866
(204,851 posts)Not counting those I knew already, LOL. My housemate turned me on to DU back in 2003, learned about it from a couple of coworkers. And I kept sending DU links to one of my closest friends who finally joined DU as a surprise on my birthday, back in 2005...

Rhiannon12866
(204,851 posts)But she never did come up to my neck-of-the-woods like she planned. And when I was a mod, I was all excited to learn that Ellen was also from NY, kept imagining she could be on the next street, LOL, but it turned out she was pretty far downstate.
Actually spent some time on the beach today. The sun is out, but it's windy. Unfortunately, it wasn't quite windy enouh to fly the kite we brought, noticed others weren't having much luck with kites, either...

(71,265 posts)I think she lives equal distance from both of us.
Rhiannon12866
(204,851 posts)Which is just north of me, but then she was here kind of sporadically for awhile. And I do remember when she first joined. It was winter and I was snowed in, so I helped her get through the 700 Club, LOL. Don't think anyone does that anymore...

(71,265 posts)I hate shoveling snow.
Rhiannon12866
(204,851 posts)Which happens every winter in my part of the state. And this winter was much worst than most. BTW, it's in the 60s here, too, though the wind makes it kind of chilly. But at least there's no snow! *knock on wood*

Love the smile on Springsteen's face through this jam:

(204,851 posts)He played at a pretty small venue, the University of Vermont, while my brother was there, so he invited me. He put on a terrific show, but I remember being deaf for the next couple of days...

(204,851 posts)I remember reaching one, two and three thousand, back in the day, thought it was one huge deal. Do you remember newyawker99? She used to post threads on DUer Milestones. And she was also my first friend on DU, welcomed me on my very first post here. And I remember waiting over a week to post #10,000, wanted to make it special.

(71,265 posts)I am at 33,000 posts now and a few of the people who don't like me noticed.
Rhiannon12866
(204,851 posts)She was a great DUer and everybody loved her, but when she disappeared, no one ever seemed to know what happened. I've even seen fairly recent threads asking if anyone knows...

(71,265 posts)I heard she was a great duer.
Rhiannon12866
(204,851 posts)I imagine that those rumors sprang up since she was such a regular here, and an early mod, so it seemed unlikely that she'd just abandon DU.
Another of my very first friends here was God_bush_n_cheney, who eventually changed his screen name to Andy Stephenson.
hrmjustin
(71,265 posts)I remember his story and the great work he did and his sad death.
Rhiannon12866
(204,851 posts)I remember how I first met him, was on a late night thread he posted because he was freaking out since a young man he'd tried to help had committed suicide. Obviously, he got a lot of replies, and I believe he sent a thank you PM to everyone who supported him on that thread. We were friends after that and I remember when he became an activist, was just a tragedy what happened to him after he got sick.

(71,265 posts)I remember him from the black box voting documentary.
