Cuomo gets a critic his own size

Blake Zeff

This time, Andrew Cuomo may be in some trouble.

I don’t write those words lightly: I’ve never written them before, and I’ve never even thought them.

But the man who’s picked fights with—and systematically disemboweled—every New York politician who’s stood in his way (or who he’s feared might stand in his way at some point) is up against a very different kind of obstacle this time.

U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara has not only taken possession of the files from the corruption-fighting Moreland Commission that Cuomo recently closed down as part of a budget deal, but has also publicly floated the possibility of investigating the governor’s alleged meddling in its investigations. What’s more, Bharara has publicly, humiliatingly suggested that Cuomo’s focus on cleaning up Albany was nothing more than a ploy to gain political leverage in budget negotiations.

Something like this comes along.

>>>>Start with Cuomo's tactics in dealing with “Chipmunk Balls.” That’s the charming nickname the governor reportedly uses to describe Dinapoli. The methods of humbling this rival have included the Christie-esque maneuver of publicly investigating him when Cuomo was attorney general and declining to clear him until well into his re-election campaign—and conspicuously opting not to endorse DiNapoli in a general election against a well-financed Republican opponent. Then there was the most recent stick in the eye: forcing on Dinapoli a pilot public financing program—only for his race—that would make the comptroller give back more than two-thirds of his campaign money or suffer a P.R. hit.>>>>>>>

Speaking anatomically........ what a dick.
