Gov. Cuomo has problems with his left flank, according to a Siena Research Institute poll released Tuesday morning.
The poll shows that Cuomos commanding 30-point lead over GOP challenger Rob Astorino would be sliced in half if a more liberal candidate backed by the Working Families Party ran in a three-way contest. In such a contest, only 39% of voters would back Cuomo, compared to 24% each for Astorino and the unnamed WFP candidate.
Its been 24 years since a minor party candidate grabbed 20 percent of the gubernatorial vote, however, clearly facing opponents from both sides of the political spectrum would create a challenge for Cuomo, said Siena pollster Steven Greenberg.
