STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - In another sign that the borough congressional race is on the national radar, the Democratic House Majority PAC has announced that it has spent $162,759 to reserve television air time in the 11th Congressional District, where Democrat Domenic M. Recchia Jr. is battling Rep. Michael Grimm (R-Staten Island/Brooklyn).
It was one of 24 races where the PAC reserved ad time for the fall, and one of six where the PAC is targeting a GOP-held district.
"Voters here want leadership they can be proud of, leadership that's willing to stand up and fight for them," said Recchia campaign manager Ashleigh Owens. "Domenic Recchia will be that kind of leader in Congress - and that's made this race one to watch."
Grimm's campaign declined to comment on the ad buy.
