Cuomo touts liberal wins to rural Dems

ALBANY—In a campaign speech for rural Democrats on Friday night, Governor Andrew Cuomo outlined his first-term achievements, hitting on social issues like gay marriage and gun-control while blaming failed liberal priorities on the Legislature.

Cuomo has defended his liberal record recently from attacks by left-leaning groups, especially after a poll this week gave credibility to a potential challenger from the Working Families Party.

During the speech, which was well-received by the upstate Democrats, the governor touted his role in legalizing gay marriage, tightening gun control, raising the minimum wage, expanding full-day pre-kindergarten and implementing President Obama's Affordable Care Act.
