McCrory signs (another) horrible bill
From "NC Conservation Network" in my email this morning:
Governor Pat McCrory signed another controversial bill into law this one promising to do serious damage to North Carolina's natural environment and quality of life. House Bill 74 is full of rollbacks on existing state environmental and public health protections. It weakens state standards for landfills, allows for the contamination of groundwater from coal fired power plants, and will mean more ugly billboards across North Carolina.
Help us get 100 phone calls to Gov. McCrory's office - call him today and tell him how disappointed you are that he signed H74 into law.

Here's a sample script (but please use your own words): "My name is ______________ and I'm from ________, NC. I am extremely disappointed that Governor McCrory signed H74 into law, especially weakening state landfill safety provisions. This bill is irresponsible and puts us on the wrong path. Thank you."
Unless you like unsafe landfills in your neighborhood or obnoxious digital billboards in your community, this grab-bag of special interest goodies is just one more step backward for our state. Its another sign that the lawmakers we sent to Raleigh care more about appeasing special interest polluters than about protecting the environment and quality of life that makes North Carolina special.
