Related: About this forumNorth Carolina healthcare providers sue state over Medicaid billing system
RALEIGH, N.C. -- Fed up with months of problems with North Carolina's new computerized Medicaid billing and enrollment system called NCTracks, a group of healthcare providers said Thursday it has filed a class action lawsuit.
The suit, filed by Virginia-based law firm and lobbying group Williams Mullen, names the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, Computer Sciences Corporation, Maximus Consulting Services, Inc. and SLI Global Solutions, Inc. as defendants, and claims NCTracks was negligently developed and designed, untested, and not ready for implementation.
"NCTracks has been a disaster, inflicting millions of dollars in damages upon North Carolina's Medicaid providers," the filing charges.

The plaintiffs listed in the suit are:

Halifax Medical Specialists (in Roanoke Rapids)

(14,971 posts)1. I can't tell if it's incompetence or
contempt. The goal of the NC GOP is to make the state of NC so inhospitable to the poor that they'll move elsewhere. This is an actual objective of the McCrory administration .

I can't help but hope enough of NC will vote this turd out ASAP.

Doctors are suing the state, a software vendor and consultants over the troubled Medicaid claims system saying that complications and errors resulted in financial losses and harm to patients.
The hospital practices are suing the state Department of Health and Human Services, Computer Sciences Corp., which built and is operating the system, SLI Global Solutions, a company hired to test the software, and Maximus Consulting Solutions, which provided independent reviews.
....
The flaws in NC Tracks have been chronicled in state audits, news reports and medical workers comments at legislative hearings. The NC Tracks system was trouble almost as soon as the state started using it on July 1.
....
Dr. Aldona Wos, DHHS secretary, has repeatedly defended her decision to switch to the new claims system on July 1 despite doubts that it was ready.

Does anyone know of a state in which the Medicaid program runs smoothly? Cronyism, incompetence, efforts to privatize, and contempt for the poor and working classes are destroying North Carolina. It's like "What's the Matter with Kansas?" happening before my very eyes...
