Profanity-laced recording of NC senator's meeting cited in death of puppy mill bill

Three guesses at to which party the senator is from...

....

Rabon, a veterinarian, said he believes House Bill 930 is too weak. He said its standards for humane treatment could too easily be interpreted by a judge to apply to livestock as well as pets.

“It can’t spill over to the animal husbandry in this state, which is an $80 billion industry – larger than the other top five industries in the state,” he said. “There is a LOT of money involved."

....

"We were informed that that bill would never leave the House,” he said. “They [the House] are a bunch of (expletive). They got political heat. They said, ‘We can no longer sit on this. We know the Senate will not pass it because it’s a piece of crap, so we’ll send it to them, and they’ll take the heat.’ Ladies and gentlemen, that is politics 101.”

....

“It was bullied out of committee by the executive branch," he said. "The executive branch had absolutely, absolutely no business sticking its nose in the legislature on that sort of issue."

He claimed that Ann McCrory's advocacy, including a visit to the House chamber to watch the May 9 vote, was “against all laws.”

I'm wondering if that actually makes McCrory look good. NCarolinawoman Jan 2014 #1

Absolutely HORRID group of people in the legislature.

I bet a lot of the veterinarians at the NC State veterinarian School can't stand this agriculture VET-turd. My vet teaches there and she and her husband, who helped establish the Turtle Rehabilitation Center would be appalled at this idiot!

Never thought I'd say that! Just saw him on WRAL News and he was asked about this while in Wilmington (?) today. He even spoke up about gassing, which is a heinous practice that NEEDS TO STOP.

Is this the turtle rehab center?

I actually did a little volunteer work there, of sorts. My family owned a home on South Topsail Beach. A girl scout troop in Raleigh (their leader was a neighbor) found out we had a place down there and asked me if we could lend the place to them for a few days so they could help out with a newly established Sea Turtle Rescue Center. We drove down, went to the orientation, met the wonderful founder seen in the picture, and did a bit of staking of the sea turtle nests so they would not be disturbed. The actual BIG center was kind of a dream at the time.

Then a wonderful vet, Dr. Greg Lewbart, got involved, a whole lot of fund raising took place, and the dream emerged. Strangely, I had already met the good Vet, as I had taken an injured box turtle to the vet school. He was also establishing a land turtle rescue organization at NC State U. staffed by 80 volunteer vet students. Just recently one of the students came to my home to pick up another poor turtle I had found. He is kind of a pioneer and actually now known around the world. (I knew him first when he was very young and just starting out. )

Then (long story here) I met his wife a few years later when I moved to another part of Raleigh and had to find a new vet for my kitties. She also does a lot of rehabbing of injured birds. I sort of could go on and on, obviously.

You can read about Dr. Greg Lewbart on google search. His name comes right to the top.
