Threat on Lankford's Right? Don't go there, Senator!

On 7/16/21 Sen Lankford announced on a FaceBook Live program, he would put a hold on the President’s DHS nominees until “the Wall”--proposed by the “I alone can fix it” and “Mexico will pay for it!” loser of the 2020 election—gets built. I’m afraid that the already right-wing Senator is being driven around the bend by his new challenger from the fringe, Jackson Lahmeyer.

I fear that Sen. Lankford is following the path of George Wallace. Wallace, upon losing his first primary election to be governor of segregated Alabama as not being extreme enough, took a turn for the worse: “And I'll tell you here and now, I will never be outn***ed again" he was widely quoted. Unfortunately, Wallace did not seek redemption for his inflammatory cruelty and his “segregation now, segregation forever” politics until his bitter, sad end—and the damage was done.

While times change and issues evolve, we still have politicians prey upon the worst instincts of the populace. I implore the junior senator from Oklahoma to not go any farther down this path.
