I sent an email to him last week ... He responded that he thought it was the best option for American workers ... I think he is out of his mind on this one ...

As the Communications Workers of America point out, the Fast Track bill FAILS all the tests that Wyden said were critical:

Wyden needs to repent.

Encouraged him to oppose it too, for the good of Oregon and the entire country. Didn't go into details, but that'll be my next step if he doesn't pay attention to his constituents. Haven't heard back. Probably won't. Stay strong, everyone. Keep those cards and letters headin' Ron's way!

There's no excuse for him taking the corporate position on this, and there was no excuse for him introducing a bill that, while it closes corporate tax loopholes, cuts corporate tax rates down to a meaningless 15%, and there was no excuse for him fighting to strip the public option out of the healthcare bill.

Ron Wyden needs to step down in 2016, or else a REAL Oregon Dem in the Wayne Morse tradition(like Peter DeFazio)needs to challenge him in the primary.

Ron has abandoned everything he stood for when he helped organize the Oregon Gray Panthers. Now he's just a bland centrist hack.

Wyden enabled the delivery of the TPP to fast track. The TPP is a complete usurpation of the principles of the Democratic party/brand and an insult to Oregon voters who thought Wyden represenrted them

Petitioning these treacherous senators and demonstrating in front of their local offices get no attention from them or the media. But starting a recall petition for any Democratic Senator (or Congressperson where recall is possible) who supports TPP...now that will get both the attention of these turncoats, the media and a wider public.

Oregon is solidly blue. The Dems there do not need a senator who would betray them so profoundly.

We aren't just random Democrats contacting him, but state Democratic Party leadership voted in 2013 to send him a message NOT to work on Fast Track or TPP legislation then. Read more here:

http://www.dpo.org/party/business/resolutions/2013-060

...
NOW, THEREFORE, THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY OF OREGON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. Our Senators should insist that the text of the Trans-Pacific Partnership be made public and subject to full discussion and modification by the Senate before this treaty is voted on by Congress.

Section 2. Our Senators should oppose reinstatement or exercise of Fast Track Authority by the president that circumvents the ability of the Senate to carefully consider the TPP and any future free trade agreements.

Section 3. Our Senators should oppose any international trade agreement that would undermine American manufacturing by encouraging production to move to low-wage countries with weak labor and environmental standards.
...

His office should be reminded of this when he's contacted to show that he's out of step with his party, and that Oregon voters deserve an explanation as to WHY!

We should be contacting Pete DeFazio's office as well to encourage him to run in a primary too. Perhaps help this by passing along suggestions on who to run in his place for the House to keep Art Edmonds and his son out of Congress too to help him make this decision.

I noticed this during the huge budget fights etc early on right after Obama won his first term...siding with the wall street wing, caving, capitulating and compromising on some pretty "toxic out of the gate" bills when there really Wasn't any reasonable compromise to be made because the bill(s) were That bad..then hooking up with Paul Ryan to "voucher medicare" and supported (if memory serves) Chained CPI for Soc Security while ignoring calls to Lift the cap.....
He voted for some pretty bad nominees against our will....
I did vote for him last time...but it was only a vote Against his opponent....not For wyden. Oregon can do better ... he's "been there" 30 Plus years. He needs to retire and Oregon needs actual progressives representing us, imo.
Then, most recently, instead of meeting with, talking to activists Against TPP in Portland recently...he Ran away and hid...GOP style!

As noted here:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/11/paul-ryan-ron-wyden_n_1768495.html

Wyden tried to make it sound like he was making this better, much like he's trying to make TPP "better" for us too with this crazy "Fast Track" legislation.

http://www.oregonlive.com/politics/index.ssf/2012/08/post_72.html

It was interesting that right about the same time at the end of 2011 when he was talking with Paul Ryan on this deal was about the same time he got surgery for his prostate cancer... Seems like interesting timing. Not sure if it had to do with anything of him working with Ryan then.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/12/16/ron-wyden-prostate-cancer_n_797969.html

I thin Ron Wyden needs to understand that there are some issues like Social Security, Medicare, and TPP and like "free trade" deals, that real Democrats don't want us to compromise on.

His best way of keeping things "better" regarding Fast Track or TPP legislation is to just say NO to both of them. Hope he can come up with a logical way to transition to these positions before 2016, or I might be part of the group here to push DeFazio to run for the senate then.

I was Stunned to learn OR Dem Rep Blumenauer is With Wyden on this.

Our family and circle of friends have supported Wyden since 1996.
He won't enjoy that support in 2016 and beyond should he be successful in his quest for re-election.
