After last night and assuming the new CD map stays in place, Keith Rothfus is toast in the new 17th (old CD 12). Lamb's home will be in the new 17th and I will bet Rothfus loses to him by 10 pts.
I feel a little bad for the Dems who stepped up to challege Rothfus before the new map was drawn, but I'm thinking they'll all step aside for Lamb in the primary, again assuming Lamb gets his petitions in order to be on the primary ballot.

I will not be sorry to see Rothfus redistricted out of Congress.

(6,373 posts)Should allow him a little easier of a time.

(15,265 posts)He's a good fit in the new 17th, too. Beaver County is culturally conservative, but economically liberal so he should do well here and also in his base of northern and western Allegheney County.

(28,394 posts)When we become the new 14th, we could end up with Saccone. He has indicated that he will run again.
Does anyone know if we have to pick candidates in May for the general? Or does Lamb get a bye? Thanks.

(15,265 posts)They both have to submit nominating petitions with 1000 valid signatures from voters in the district in which they wish to run by 3/20, that's next Tuesday, or they won't be on the ballot.
This morning on MSNBC, Vaughn Hillyard reported that Saccone is planning to run in the new 14th even though he doesn't live in it. Cue the "carpetbagger" ads.

(15,265 posts)Rothfus won't even hold in person townhall meetings with his constituents, few, if any, who are as formidable adversaries as Lamb will be.

(15,265 posts)last evening in an overwhelming vote vs Beth Tarasi and Ray Lisenmayer.
Lamb apparently has settled on running as an "FDR Democrat" which I think is a pretty good plan.

(15,265 posts)Looks like Lamb will have only one primary opponent, Ray Lisenmayer, now. All the other candidates have dropped their primary challenges and endorsed Lamb.

(15,265 posts)Just got a robo-poll from an outfit called Central Market Research on Lamb vs Rothfus. I guess it's the new, more competitive 17th since I never worried about being polled in the old gerry-mandered 12th. Seemed like a fair poll, not a push-poll, as it was hard to figure out which party/candidate commissioned it.
