Cybercharter Schools continue to siphon off huge amounts of $ from public schools, with weak results

Good article with lots of informative links.

In PA, the only cybercharter school that is meeting statewide performance standards is one run by a consortium of public school districts.

The for-profit cybers are typically getting paid several times more than it costs public school districts to provide the same level of cybereducation.

The local school districts are not given any authority to oversee cyberschools. In fact, one in Phila. laid off all of their teachers, but kept receiving public tax dollars.
