Talk by Republicans about Replacing Corbett has Disappeared, because Corbett has new Messengers

http://www.philly.com/philly/news/20130814_The_Corbett_replacement_buzz_is_gone.html

Good article at the link. It is worth reading the whole article.

There was a great deal of discussion by Repubs about trying to find a different candidate for Governor. However, that talk has subsided. One of the main reasons is that Corbett has replaced his PR Director, his Chief of Staff and his Legislative Affairs Director. The attitude is - Corbett was doing everything right, he just needed new messengers to communicate his greatness.

Excerpts:

"And in July, the National Journal wrote that talk of the GOP replacing Corbett was "rampant."

Now? Crickets. Not that stuff got better for Corbett. He lost all three of his top legislative items, almost meekly accepting same after calling 0-for-3 "unacceptable."

...They also argue that Democrats have no statewide star ... and that Corbett will spend $30 million to $40 million on re-election. Gleason also says national Republicans will pour in resources since Pennsylvania is a large electoral-vote state, and the GOP wants a Republican governor here during the 2016 presidential campaign."

Corbett's daughter was hired by the PA. Attorney General's office last year. Corbett had hand-picked the Attorney General. It was at that point that she suddenly started using her married name, instead of her maiden name that she was using for her previous job. You don't want nepotism to be too obvious.

But it was bad timing. Her husband, a Phila. narcotics officer was then charged with corruption. They are apparently splitting up.
