Proposed State Law Would Limit Backyard Keeping of Bears, Lions, Gorillas, Etc.

http://readingeagle.com/article.aspx?id=508616

PA.'s laws on the keeping of exotic wildlife are more loose than most other states. If a person obtains a permit from the Game Commission, they can keep almost any type of animal in their back yard, including bears, wolves, lions, tigers and gorillas. A proposed state law would restrict this activity, while grandfathering people who currently have their animals with a valid permit.

Many of these animals spend most of their time in cages. This law is designed to reduce hazards to neighbors from animals escaping, while also being more humane to wild animals.
