Good article about problems facing PA. transit services because of lack of state funding

http://www.ydr.com/local/ci_24032009/aging-vehicles-limited-funding-cause-major-headaches-rabbittransit

Very thorough article about typical funding problems being faced by PA public transit services because state funding has not kept up with inflation for many years.

This article is about the system serving York and Adams County, but it puts it into a statewide perspective. Their vehicles each have an average of 500,000 miles on them, but there is no funding available to replace the old vehicles. One of their passenger vans recently caught fire while on a highway - caused by an old part in a location that was not accessible during normal maintenance.
