One tirade from a State Senator "shows all that is wrong with Harrisburg"

http://blog.pennlive.com/capitol-notebook/2014/03/in_one_potty-mouthed_tirade_a.html#incart_flyout_opinion

A democratic Pa. Senator from Phila. is criminally charged with using her Senate staff to spend many many days organizing a giant annual birthday party for herself/political fundraiser. The Harrisburg Patriot-News columnist explains why this example illustrates all that is wrong with State Government politics.

Another Dem. legislator from Phila. was recently charged with having a state paid employee who never showed up for work.

Attyn. Gen. Kane filed the charges. Unlike one of her predecessors, she does not hesitate to file charges against members of her own party.

I don't care what party engages in these antics, it is about time that it is stopped. What makes our representatives think that they are about the law?

There are too many representatives it extremely safe districts; more competitive districts would help root out the deadwood. Maybe cutting pay and making these positions truly part time, without benefits and pensions, would discourage people from staying in office 20+ years.
