Whenever Republican ads try to target young women, they always end up being very creepy. The latest is an ad being run in PA, Colorado, Florida and Michigan by the College Republicans. The same ad is being used, except they insert the different names of the Repub and Dem candidates. It is so bad that in the Colorado ad, they mis-pronounced the name of the Repub candidate. It started out as a web ad, but it has been broadcast on TV in PA.
Time Magazine called it "The Most Sexist Republican Ad of the Year"

This ad is based upon the TV show "Say Yes, to the Dress," which often features annoying family members loudly arguing over wedding dresses. Wolf is compared to an "outdated and over-priced" frumpy dress that the bride's irritating mother likes, as opposed to that really cool strapless dress that Tom Corbett would wear. Young lady, don't you worry your pretty little head about education spending or access to affordable health care. Just remember Corbett = stylish and well-known brand name and Wolf = taxes and frumpy.

The following note was sent by the national College Democrats:
"College Republicans
We wanted to thank you for spending $1 million to show America just how out-of-touch Republicans are with young people. While Democrats are fighting to make sure young women can afford a good education, have access to healthcare including affordable birth control, get paid equally, and much more, Republicans are treating women as if all they care about are dresses and reality shows. You didnt have to draw that contrast for us, but you did, and we cant thank you enough! Thanks for everything you do! It doesnt go unnoticed across the aisle.
Sincerely,
The College Democrats of America "

"Republicans pitch to women has largely fallen flat. A recent poll commissioned by Republican groups found that most women think of the party as stuck in the past and intolerant. But the party has hardly budged on hard-line stances that have alienated women, such as reproductive rights and pay equity. Research suggests that Republicans lost women by such huge margins in 2012 not only because of offensive messaging, but because of extreme policy stances."

There is a history of this approach. A front group named Independent Womens Voice portrayed Obama as an unreliable boyfriend, featuring a young woman griping, Why do I always fall for guys like this?" A Koch-funded group recently portrayed Obama as an abusive boyfriend.
Remember when the House Republicans held a hearing on contraception and would only let old white men provide testimony?
Do you realize that every chair of a US House of Representatives Committee is an old white male Republican?
