Fracking hearing, Washington, PA, 4/29/15
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection is holding just three hearings across the state to hear from concerned citizens about their proposal—and one of these town hall style meetings is being held near you.
You can participate by simply showing up and showing your support, or you can voice your support for these new regulations by speaking at the hearing. If you want to make a public comment at the meeting, please call the DEP beforehand at 717-783-8727.
WHAT: Local hearing on newly proposed regulations to reduce pollution from fracking.
WHERE: Washington, PA: Washington and Jefferson College’s Rossin Campus Center in the Allen Ballroom, 60 S. Lincoln St., Washington, PA 15301
WHEN: Wednesday April 29th from 6-9 PM.
WHO: You and other concerned residents who want to tackle pollution from fracking!
DEP’s proposal is a major step forward to tackle air and water pollution, and protect Pennsylvanians from some of fracking’s worst impacts, including:
•Banning on-site waste pits that hold toxic waste water and put nearby families’ health and the surrounding environment at risk;
•Taking siting of fracking activities near schools and playgrounds into account;
•Making frackers restore tap water sources they contaminate back to safe drinking water standards;
