Confederate flag taken down at Pa. State Capitol
HARRISBURG - A Confederate flag that was hanging inside the Pennsylvania State Capitol as part of a historical display was taken down Wednesday after a Democratic state representative from Philadelphia objected to it, according to state officials.
Rep. Vanessa Lowery Brown (D., Philadelphia) initially took the flag down herself on Wednesday morning, and turned it in to Republican House Speaker Mike Turzai, saying she believed it had no place hanging in a state building, legislative officials said.
When the flag was rehung later in the morning, Brown was threatened with arrest if she attempted to remove it, the officials said.

Later Wednesday morning, the flag was brought to the attention of Democratic Gov. Wolf, whose office ordered that it be removed. The flag was taken down again, this time by state officials.
"The governor believes the Confederate flag is a symbol of racism and hatred," said Wolf spokesman Jeff Sheridan, "and does not believe it should be on display in a state building or that it should be celebrated in any way."
