Embattled West York mayor threatened to suspend police chief
Amid continued calls for West York Mayor Charles Wasko to resign, Wasko showed up at borough offices on Friday, screaming he was going to suspend the acting police chief, according to West York Council president Shawn Mauck.
However, acting Chief Matthew Millsaps remains on the job, Mauck said. Millsaps is acting chief while Chief of Police Justin Seibel is on paid administrative leave.
Millsaps and Wasko could not be immediately reached for comment.
The backlash against Wasko started after he shared Facebook posts that council members and some residents said were racist. Some memes on his page compare President Obama and the first lady to apes. One likens Muslims to pedophiles. And one from February shows Clint Eastwood next to a hangman's noose with a caption that says, "Barry, this rope's for you."
