AUSTIN, Texas (AP) Texas Democratic Party Chairman Gilberto Hinojosa is optimistic for the 2014 campaign, but that doesn't mean he's ignoring his party's problems. Such as half of the county-level organizations can't deliver results on election day.
Hinojosa says he's been working on building the party. Protests over a ban on abortion after 20 weeks has also breathed new life into Democratic politics and created a star in Fort Worth Sen. Wendy Davis.
Hinojosa says the key is to mobilize the Democratic Party's base minorities and liberals and boost voter turnout among non-voters.
With 7 million ballots cast in 2010, former Houston Mayor Bill White lost by 630,000 votes. Hinojosa said that's the minimum goal the party will look for to win in 2014.

I spoke with the secretary at the realtor's office on Monday and she stated that the Democrats actually had a booth set up at the summer music festival in Round Top which is in Fayette County. She was quite happy that the Democrats emerged from the shadows to do that. However, it isn't going to do any good unless Democrats begin appearing on the ballot. There were no Democrats for countywide, Texas House or U. S. House races on the ballot in adjacent Washington County in 2012.

(143,999 posts)Charman Hinojosa had some good comments about Juanita Jean at her roast back in July.
I think that Chairman Hinojosa is doing a good job and I hope that Wendy Davis decides to run for governor
