Texas A&M University officially acquires Texas Wesleyan University law school

Texas A&M University officially has its law school.

Chancellor John Sharp announced Tuesday the complete acquisition of Texas Wesleyan University's law school in Fort Worth, which is now called Texas A&M University School of Law.

A&M paid $73.2 million for the acquisition.

"In creating the Texas A&M University School of Law, we are finally expanding the Texas A&M brand into the field of law with a focus on new areas of growth like patents and commercialization," Sharp said in a press release. "This long-sought entry into the field of law by the state's first public institution of higher learning, with its land-grant university perspective for innovative service to the public, will have a profound impact on the future of Texas."

Great news for Johnny Manziel since he can be represented pro bono in the NCAA investigation of whether he signed his autograph for compensation.

Let the Aggie lawyer jokes commence!

A&M has been looking for a law school for a long time. Back in 2007, A&M tried to affiliate with or acquire South Texas Law School http://diverseeducation.com/article/8450/# That deal fell apart.

I had a decent number of A&M students in my class because these students did not want to go to UT law
