Armed man yelling 'I am 666' leads to SWAT scene in NW Houston
A SWAT scene ended peacefully after an armed man who was heard saying "I am 666" held police at bay for about three hours Tuesday morning at an apartment complex in northwest Houston.
The standoff began about 7 a.m. at the Avery Park apartments at 5300 W. Gulf Bank near Streamside, said Victor Senties, a spokesman the Houston Police Department. It ended about 10 a.m. when the man surrendered to police.
No injuries were reported and no shots were fired.
Senties said the incident started after a man flagged down an Aldine ISD officer who was at the complex conducting truancy checks. He told the officer that a man had robbed him in the complex at about 5 a.m.
