Texas tests undergoing rewrite--conservative bloggers posted test answers online last week

Texas education officials are busy rewriting tests after websites led by conservative activist bloggers leaked the answers online last week.

The Associated Press reported Sunday, Sept. 8, that 30 tests of the controversial curriculum system originally known as CSCOPE were published with the answers. The first 10 tests were posted Sept. 4, by redhotconservative.com, while a second website, voicesempower.com, added a batch Sept. 6.

Some conservative groups say CSCOPE promotes anti-American and anti-Christian values, according to the AP.

The curriculum system — which recently underwent a name change to TEKS — is used by around 875 school districts, mostly small or midsized. An AP article states the test’s users educate about 35 percent of the state’s more than 5 million public school students.
