After Wendy Davis began the week by endorsing the wealthy Dallas dentist in the Senate primary, this e-mail from Maxey Scherr's deputy campaign manager sets the record straight.
David Alameel, the alleged Democrat running for the US Senate, has bankrolled the anti-choice Republican agenda for years. I'm not talking about a couple thousand dollars here. He has given $1.6 million dollars to the Republicans who oppose Roe v. Wade and vote to erode a woman's right to choose at every turn.
Here are a few specifics on Alameel's record on supporting the Republican agenda:
-- Alameel gave $150,000 to Lt. Governor David Dewhurst who led the charge to pass anti choice legislation and called women who went to protest in the Capitol an unruly mob;
-- Alameel gave $4,200 to Minority Leader Mitch McConnell who voted to allow any employer to refuse to cover contraception or any health service required under the health reform law for virtually any reason;
-- Alameel gave $8,400.00 to Senator Orin Hatch who sponsored an amendment that would ban any organizations that provide abortions, including hospitals, from receiving Medicaid family planning funds -- even if those abortions are to save a woman's life;
-- Alameel gave $25,000.00 to the National Republican Senatorial Committee who defended the comment that abortions should not be legal even in the case of rape;
So I have a big question that we Democrats need to resolve before the March 4th primary:
If Texas Democrats care about womens rights and protecting choice, then how can we possibly nominate a candidate who has a long track record of funding the Republicans who are anti-choice?
Eaxactly. If you're near Houston at the end of the month, you can attend a fundraising event for Scherr.

(4 posts)This post rather silly and tediously intellectually dishonest. it attempts to conflate donations to Republican candidates prior to 2010 with explicit support of specific antiabortion policy. In fact Alameel gave 10 times as much to Democrats, so if he supported antiabortion policy, he supported pro-choice 10 times more.
David Alameel was an independent until 2010, just a Kevin Phillips was at one time Nixon's speechwriter and Earl Warren was a Republican when Ike assigned him to the Supreme Court.
Before 2010 Alameel contributed to both sides. Rather more heavily to Democrats than Republicans.
David Alameel is the 28 largest Democratic donor in the county.
Here more here http://www.stjohnradio.com/podcast.
David made his money helping teach dentists to manage their practices profitably. He understands the financials and understands how the country is being looted by Wall Street. That is expertise we need in the Senate, not another lawyer that is good with words bu bedazzled by Wall Street who has no clue about Macroeconomic theory, the multiplier effect, or what fractional reserve banking is.
I am not privy to all of the conversations between the candidates, but as far as I know Alameel has never commented negatively on Ms. Scheer, so the characterization of a "hit back" by Ms Scheer's team is rather more typical of the Republican attitude of eternal victimization than any usually exhibited by Democrats. By the logic of the then a who is the crypto-Republican using their tactics?

(8,322 posts)Or maybe his flack. May I ask how much you're being paid by the campaign?
Care to outline the good doctor's positions on women's reproductive freedoms for Democratic primary voters? Because where they were online during his 2012 Congressional (failed) bid has been scrubbed squeaky clean.
I'll pass on learning any more about Dr. Alameel's financial wizardry, thanks.
And far be it from ME to call your candidate a duplicitous steaming pile of conservative poo. I believe his donor record speaks for itself. You are as always welcome to disagree, and to retaliate with more vociferous indignation.
We'll all be waiting excitedly for your second post...

(8,322 posts)as a supporter of Roe v. Wade.
From my inbox this afternoon:
As your senator, Ill wake up every day fighting to restore economic fairness and reform our government by:
Withdrawing our troops from Afghanistan and redirecting the hundreds of billions we are spending there to rebuild America by investing in good jobs, good schools and protecting Social Security and Medicare.
Investing in a quality education for all Texas children, not just the privileged few.
Growing our economy by creating good paying jobs in Texas, raising the minimum wage, ensuring equal pay for equal work and protecting the rights of union workers;
Standing up to Wall Street corporations and millionaires by making them pay their fair share, closing unfair tax loopholes and ending offshore tax shelters.
Stopping any attempts to privatize or cut Social Security and Medicare.
Protecting Roe v. Wade from right wing extremists who want government to interfere in womens health care decisions.
Passing comprehensive immigration reform that is humane, respectful of our laws and provides a responsible roadmap to citizenship.
Fighting for marriage equality.
This is good enough for me. I will support either Scherr or Fjetland in the primary, however.

(144,919 posts)It seems that Alameel has access to the State Party's e-mail list. I know that the State Party does not want to see Kesha Rogers in a runoff for this race.
I am also voting for either Fjetland or Scherr in the March primary.
I am really hoping that Kesha flames out. I have not seen any of her signs or her people out with banners lately. The Fort Bend county party still has a number of Kesha is not a Democrat signs that we are going to put out for the primary in Fort Bend County.
