In reversal, Texas Oncology to participate in health plans on federal marketplace

Austin’s largest cancer treatment provider has reversed course and is choosing to participate in health plans offered on the federally run health insurance marketplace, the organization’s chief executive said Friday.

Steven Paulson, a physician and CEO of Texas Oncology, said the group will participate as an in-network provider in 25 plans on the marketplace set up by the Affordable Care Act. The plans will be offered by Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, Cigna, FirstCare Health Plans and Humana, Paulson said. More plans could end up offering Texas Oncology as an in-network provider later, Paulson said.

I was completely shocked to learn they had decided not to initially participate. But hey, money talks, bullshit walks. And now they've walked it back. Go figure.
